Each issue our team hunts through the best submissions by our “A-grade” surf photographers from around the world. A magazine cover shot is the most coveted trophy for any photographer. With a glut in the digital market, photos get minimal view time. Having a photo published in print these days is a tough gig. So, we’re giving YOU the chance to be a part of SL history and see your photo feature in our glossy.

Surfing Life, like our name suggests, means we’re passionate about every aspect of a surfing life—waves, travel, surfers, lifestyle, technique or capturing surfing as you see it. If a picture is worth a thousand words … submit a photo that makes us speechless.
The winner will receive an accommodation package from our partners at Club Wyndham. You will be able to select from one of Wyndham’s many locations throughout Australia. You will also receive the coveted “Photo of the Year” trophy to sit on your mantelpiece (if you have one). Also be printed in our magazine, credited as Surfing Life Photo of the Year and receive a years subscription to Surfing Life Magazine … of course.
Entry is FREE to all Australian Residents. Maximum of 5 photos/entries per entrant. Photos can be from the last five years from around the world.
All photos are to be sent to [email protected] as a JPEG (approx. 2MB). After the top ten have been selected, a RAW, high-resolution JPEG or TIF will be requested so it can be printed in the magazine. Remember print-quality images are required.
The photos will be judged by a select panel of industry professionals. All decisions will be final.
The photos of 1st, 2nd, 3rd and the rest of the top ten will be printed in the WAVES issue of Surfing Life (on shelves 3 June 2021). Submitting to this competition gives Surfing Life the right to publish the winning photo in the magazine, on our website and on our social media channels without reimbursement.
