The Church of the Open Sky

Surfing Life has been following Nathan Oldfield’s progress with this project. The sheer width and breadth of this project will have to be seen, to be believed. It’s been a long labour of love with Nathan’s little updates and still images produced onto his Instagram account giving ample clues away, that this one is going to be special.

If those snippets are anything to go by, this film is going to feature stunning seascapes, imaginative surfing on all kinds of craft all romantically tied together in a way Oldfield is famous for.

Nathan says about his film, “is a luscious visual love poem that explores gratefully lived surfing journeys. It is a sea soaked celebration of the exquisite preciousness of being alive.”

Shot on location in Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Sri Lanka, the film features Dave Rastovich, Lauren Lindsey Hill, Tom Wegener, Belinda Baggs, CJ Nelson, Alex Knost, Johnny Abegg, Neal Purchase Jr, Jasson Salisbury, Devon Howard and many others.

World Premiere in Byron Bay, May 2017
