The swell has subsided on the North Shore and whilst many pros have bailed town other have opted to stick around in hope of scoring less crowded waves.

Yesterday we caught up with shaper to the stars, Eric Arakawa. Eric didn't set out in life to be a surfboard shaper, but a handful of years after he fashioned his first board he's recognised as one of the best.

For a long time Eric had been shaping Andy Irons' boards, and at the time of his passing there were still 11 partially finished boards ... and he still has them in his shaping shed today.
