Travis Rice is a snowboarding freak of nature who has been pushing boundaries in snowboarding since he first hit the scene in 2001. On the back of Brain Farm Production’s last epic movie release That’s It That’s All T-Rice won the 2009 Transworld Snowboarding Rider of the Year, Video Part of the Year, Standout of the Year and Reader’s Choice. So you know that Brain Farm and Travis Rice’s newest collaboration, The Art of Flight, will be a movie of mammoth proportions that you won’t want to miss.

The Art of Flight seeks out un-touched terrain in the far reaches of the globe, redefining what is possible on a snowboard. Travis Rice and his hand-picked posse, including two-time Transworld Rider of the Year, John Jackson, Olympic Medallist Scotty Lago and Pat Moore, open up new mountain zones and approach explored mountains from completely unique angles in regions including Patagonia's Darwin Range, the Andes and Alaska's Tordrillo Range.

"Through the riders' full immersion into the making of this film, we are able to show in the truest way what it is like for us to travel to some of the most remote places on earth and search out the most dynamic terrain and conditions," says Travis Rice.
"Our triumphs and tribulations are conveyed in this darker, more dramatic film. Throughout we walk a fine line between when to keep pushing it and when to pull back."

And the best way to see The Art of Flight is on the big screen … or at the Australian premiere at the Sydney Opera House on 11 October.

ASL was lucky enough to be at the World premiere of The Art of Flight in New York, during the Quiksilver Pro. Have a read of the experience here. And if you're lucky, you could score a ticket to the Aussie premiere.

UPDATE: And the winner is...

Josie Barlow, who correctly stated that Travis Rice first blew minds in Absinthe Films' (directed by Justin Hostynek) Trancendence. Have fun at the premiere, Josie.

Rebecca Hultqvist gets an honourable mention for telling us that T-Rice appeared in a 2002 feature Hollywood D-grade movie called Stolen Good as a stunt man. And while we couldn't confirm this role, we were looking for Travis' first apearence as himself, not as a fictional character.

And don’t worry if you can’t make the Sydney premiere of The Art of Flight; the movie will be released in select cinemas across Australia on 13 October. You can book tickets now by following the links:
