Surfing Life’s Newsbreak is a free instant messaging service, delivering surf news to your mobile phone or to a widget on your computer desktop. The Newsbreak works by sending an SMS to your mobile containing a short burst of breaking news, e.g. Kelly Slater wins ninth World Title after winning his Round Three heat at Mundaka. You can then click ‘read more’, when you’ll be directed to a mobi-site specifically designed for your phone, which will have the full story. If you’re deskbound and want to stay informed without having to check your phone or browse the internet, you have the option of receiving your breaking news through a widget which is a Surfing Life icon that sits on your computer screen and receives the same news-bursts sent to mobile phones. You can then click ‘read more’ on the widget to be directed to the full story on the Surfing Life website. To register for this exciting new Surfing Life Newsbreak service, just enter your details to receive the latest from the surf world to your phone or desktop, and best of all, it’s free.* Once we have your details and your choice of whether you want to receive your Newsbreaks by mobile or widget or both, we’ll send you the relevant tech stuff. If you opt for the mobile Newsbreaks, you need to do nothing further; your Newsbreaks will come to you via sms. If you opt to receive your Newsbreaks via a funky little Surfing Life widget on your computer’s desktop, you’ll receive an email with an attachment and some very simple download instructions.
If you’re not completely happy with the service you can come back to this very spot on our website and unsubscribe.
The Surfing Life Newsbreaks will not be very frequent because we’re only sending you significant news events; news you as a surfer absolutely have to know about, no spam no trivial crap. You can expect on average 2 Newsbreaks a week. Some weeks there’ll be nothing, some weeks there’ll be more. If you want to know what’s going down, as it goes down, you’ve come to the right place.
