Sick of wearing your nads/ovaries as earrings in winter? Why not try Hotsuits' Heated Kidney Belt, a surfing-specific, battery powered heater you strap around your lower back to fight off the chill. The idea of jumping into the water with a battery was a little scary, but to the delight of our tester no one was electrocuted, and the heater worked so well that on the coldest, windiest, winters day Queensland could serve up (sorry), it was eventually ditched before heatstroke could kick in. The Hotsuit works best with a wettie - if you're in boardies you shouldn't be complaining about the cold - and warms the fine layer of water that is trapped between your skin and your suit. It takes a while to get use to the suction around your waist, but as you'll be surfing longer you will have plenty of time to get use to it.
Best for: Feeling like you've just wee-ed in your wettie...
