Five years ago if you’d said that in 2010 Parkway Drive would be one of Australia’s biggest bands, both at home and around the globe, you woulda been laughed at. But through hard work and non-stop touring the Byron hardcore kids have shown they’re here to stay.
Deep Blue is PD’s coming of age. The album’s got all the breakdowns, riffs and screaming you’d expect to hear, but also shows new depth, with “Home Is For The Heartless” featuring vocal harmonies never before heard. They haven’t sold out or changed, they just show a refreshing other side, on an album full of lung-bursting screams, metal riffs and bashing drum solos.
Parkway isn’t for everyone and certainly isn’t for all occasions, but if you’re looking for an amp-up before paddling out, look no further.
ASL RATING: 4/5
BEST FOR: Listening to a band from Byron that doesn’t feature a banjo.
