Sometimes you’re so busy chasing waves you need another vacation to get over your trip. Togat Nusa Retreat makes sure that won’t be necessary, offering yoga, massage and relaxation (not to mention waves out front!). Ringed by beautiful white sand beach, this privately owned, 12-hectare island can be circumnavigated in just half an hour, making for the perfect escape.

the basics

The vision was to create a unique, soulful and sustainable destination with personalised service & surf. Three twin-share bungalows cater for a maximum of six guests at one time (unless organised otherwise). All have fans, private bathrooms with hot running water and interior design with hand-built custom furniture and antique lighting and fixtures

expedition essentials

hardware: Most people bring between two-to-four boards, riding shortboards most of the time, and occasionally reaching for the gun. BYO ding repair kit too.
non-surf: Yoga mat, long and light pants and shorts for mosquito protection, and don’t forget your up-to-date passport and visa! Health insurance is mandatory as well.
medical: The retreat is only half an hour away from the Mentawai Hospital. They have supplies for minor cuts and bumps and can arrange speedboat or plane to Padang if necessary.

Suicides	A short boat ride from the resort, this hollow right-hander breaks over a shallow and very live reef and is best on high tide.	8/10	7/10	Just you and your friends.	Intermediate to advanced surfers.
Telescopes	A 20-minute boat ride from the resort, this long left-hander offers 200m walls with section after smashable section.	7/10	10/10	Average of 8 dudes	Everyone.
Icelands	Short lefty walls and pits when smaller, with steep take-offs and a heaving barrel when it’s bigger.	8/10	7-10/10	Just you and your friends.	Intermediate to advanced surfers.
Seven Palms	Good option for some fun on small days and only 10mins from Togat Nusa, this left peels off along the reef in front of a scenic, limestone-covered beach.	3/10	7/10	Just you and your friends.	Suitable for all skill levels.
