Kandui Island Villas

No surfer’s Life is coMpLete without a Visit to Mentawais, and this is the resort if you want to do it in style; a place where you can bring partners or family along for the ride and there’s no way they’ll get bored when you’re out shredding.

the basics

The villas are designed to accommodate up to 48 people, but mostly for non-surfers, wives, children, girlfriends, etc, to keep the crowds in the surf down to a minimum. Rooms boast air-con, hot water, mini bar, bathroom facilities, and house phone. Kandui Villas also has a large infinity-edge swimming pool surrounded by a massive wooden deck, which connects to a pool-side bar and games room, and two-story restaurant.

expedition essentials

hardware: Take along whatever boards you feel most comfortable on. Most people bring a short board, a mid size board, and one for bigger surf, but mid-sized boards are likely to get the most use. non-surf items: Lappy, iPod and some reading material. 
medical: Kandui Villas maintains a first aid kit, and will have a doctor, or medic on site most of the time. Inoculations are recommended for travel to the Mentawais, although they’ve had no cases of Malaria, or other disease outbreaks in the seven years they’ve been on the island.
