Andrew Shield stepped off the plane from a quick-dash mission to shoot the monster Cloudbreak session and straight into heaving, churning Gold Coast waves. Over the long weekend while everyone was glued to the Volcom Pro webcast the Goldy experienced inclement weather and fun sized waves … but by Monday that all changed as a huge pulse raced north up the coast, sending lifeguards out onto the sand with their “Beach Closed” red flags and TV helicopter media crews into a frenzy.
The surf is still wild today – but for the big dogs just returned home from Fiji, they couldn’t have asked for a better welcome home present than a jetski assisted session at good ol’ Kirra with their mates. Is Kirra “back”? Maybe not quite … but she’s sure looking mighty fine lately.
