Mavericks, the epic and dangerous wave two miles off California's Half Moon Bay, is not for the faint of heart. Although amateur surfer and Hollywood actor Gerard Butler (of 300-fame) had the nerve to paddle out, get dumped and cop a two-wave hold-down just before Christmas.
But Sparta's King was not out there a couple of days ago when a bunch of the Mavs chargers paddled into some real-sized winter waves. Santa Cruz surf photog, Ryan "Chachi" Craig was out with all the madmen capturing the action and sent through a series of images.
You can find out more about Ryan "Chachi" Craig at his website (which is being rebuilt) and see a portfolio on Surfline.
