We’ve just gotten reports that Owen Wright has been injured. Apparently he was out at Pipeline this morning before the trials began, and at some point, copped a few waves on the head (if you’ve been watching the trials then you’ll realise how heavy it is out there today). After spending some time at the Rip Curl house post beating, he was taken to hospital by an ambulance.
Right now that’s all we know, but we will keep you updated as soon as any further reports come through. Gee whizz we hope the big fella is fighting fit for his first round heat, maybe kicking off tomorrow.
UPDATE: We’ve gotten word that Owen is still in hospital (transferred to the main hospital), and the chances of him competing in the upcoming Pipe Masters aren’t too great. But with luck, and some serious determination from the Big O, that might change.
