Goofies Gone WIld

welcome to lakey peak

The Peak looking very un-lakey-like.

When Surfing Life caught wind that Adrian ‘Ace’ Buchan, Glenn ‘Micro’ Hall and Matt ‘Wilko’ Wilkinson were heading out to Sumbawa to film for Wilko’s upcoming biopic we just had to tag along.

We got the call up from Ace. The swell was looking good for the weekend, legendary Indo photographer Jason Childs was lined up to shoot, Micro was in and Wilko was definitely in, they were there to shoot his movie after all.

Ace, Micro and Wilko are the best of pals. They grew up together on New South Wales’ Central Coast, they all stand southpaw, and together form a 3/5 majority of Australian goofies on the tour. Wilko wanted to surf with two of the guys he’d looked up to as a grom, Ace and Micro wanted to borrow a bit of hifi flair from Matt to complement their rock solid repertoires, they all wanted to go left. And right, but mostly left.

glenn on a large one

Any other guy would get clipped on the shoulder by this wave, oh the advantages of being Glenn 'Micro' Hall.

Lakey Peak is a flight and a car ride from Bali. A real early flight, and when you’re in Bali and flying early the next day you may as well stay in Kuta. But in Kuta there are just too many parties going on, and it’d be rude to not partake in them.

So it was with bleary eyes we arrived to Lakeys, and it was with bleary eyes we keep on surfing (bleary now from sun, not shots). The swell has arrived and keeps on keeping as do the clips and the photos and the tales…

Want to see more? You’ll just have to stay tuned.
