The Hot 100 Go Missing
... and then all stations to... surf. Pic Shield
Yeah, sorry about that, but sometimes you can’t find free wireless in the middle of nowhere (unlike now, as I post up on a street corned in downtown San Diego, working on my piles in wet boardies, sitting on a wet kerb). The last few days we’ve been driving man, we’ve covered over 600 kms, surfed four times, eaten more melted cheese in hamburgers and on nachos than you’d care to know about, and are all completely shattered.

Last we spoke the team were getting stuck into Pismo beach, a night that featured a sleazy pool hall, the cops contemplating towing one of our RVs, and not much else. The following morning we rose, checked, cursed, and hit up out favourite free wireless point for the trip so far, on the corner of Subway and Starbucks in downtown Lompoc. Another average day of surf had the boys rattled, then Shieldsy stumbled upon a couple of favourable looking forecasts, lads started thinking about changing flights, and we decided to head to the beach and clear our heads. What do you know, it started pumping and we locked away some of the best action of the trip so far. “Told you it’d be better on the higher tide,” laughed Owen, as we talked about how good surfing is for putting shit back on track.

That night we decided we could make it San Diego, as we got told Trestles would be breaking in the morning. A night time of driving saw us stumble into a train station carpark in the small hours, then crash, Okay, the drivers crashed, the rest had been asleep for hours. Inside an hour a cop car rolls and the Sheriff gets out, telling us we should move along. Until we open our mouths, and he picks up that we’re Aussies, and surfers. He digs, we stay, awesome.

Trestles was fun this morning, then this afternoon we hit up a little treat that will be revealed when we can get some vid blogs through. Currently my transfer program is telling me that there is around “17 hours remaining to upload”, which is a problem, as I need to go to the toilet at least within the next two. I’m about to hit up the Still Filthy premiere at the Hard Rock Café around the corner, so wish me luck, and we’ll be back in full effect from the road tomorrow.
