Steph Watches Herself Win on TV

Thursday, 20 August 2009

Aussie icon and current World Number One Steph Gilmore has won Americas Teen Choice Awards', "Female Action Sports Athlete of the Year". But there was something not quite right about this year’s ceremony. Steph didn’t have to make an appearance. And even if she wanted to, the door bitch would’ve told her she’s not on the guest list, so clearly she’s not invited.  And for the first time ever, a door bitch would have made sense. Steph wasn’t invited and would you believe she wasn’t even told about her award.

It didn’t sound like she missed out on much after admitting via blog, “So I watched most of the show on TV and thought it was classic how the whole program had a surfing theme and the trophies were even surfboards, but action sports was basically left out.”

She continued by saying the best part of the night was watching the awards and seeing, “Britney Spears march in, snatch her board/trophy off Miley Cyrus, say, ‘Thanks y'all’ and sprint off stage before anyone could even clap! Haha, she's my hero!”

America’s Teen Choice Awards; just like a well-oiled machine.

Steph had no hard feelings and could see the funny side. “Anyways, I'm pretty stoked to win a Teen Choice Award. Thanks to everyone who voted for me! Maybe next year my Wonka luck will buy me a chocolate bar containing the golden ticket to the show?!”
