Yesterday Peterson Cisanto edged out Burleigh Heads’ Thomas Woods to snare the Oakley Pro Junior at North Stradbroke in the final minute of the heat, posting a 4.0 for a combined score of 12.50 to Woods’ 12.25.
Neat 3-4 foot, right-hand pointbreak waves again rolled through North Stradbroke Island’s Cylinders Beach providing the perfect setting for a nail-biting 30-minute decider.
Crisanto last year came runner up at the same event and was pumped to be able to improve his position over the reigning Junior Series Champion, and also take a 2-0 lead over Woods in ASP Australasia Pro Junior finals. The mohawked Brazilian last beat Woods at the Burleigh Heads Pro Junior in 2011, which must have been tough for the young local to take in front of his boardriders club.

New South Wales Central Coast pairing Wade Carmichael and Jake Sylvester both placed equal third overall, bowing out to Crisanto and Woods respectively in the semi-final round.
Matt Banting and local 13-year-old rising star Ethan Ewing shared the honours during the JS Tractor Big Boost expressions sessions, which saw 12 hand-picked competitors (four locals, four Australians and four international competitors) compete for three brand new custom JS surfboards.

The Oakley Pro Junior is the third stop on the ASP Australasia Pro Junior Men’s tour.
