Round three resumed this morning in conditions that GT was comparing to Huntington Beach. It was three foot, onshore and sloppy, but contest organizers wanted to finish the round so that they can finish the rest of the event in one day.
In the first heat Mick Fanning easily sent wildcard Tamaroa McComb packing and is looking to jump up a few spots on the ratings after a slow start to the year. Next up Andy Irons and Matt Wilkinson had a close battle with AI getting the nod from the judges. Then Marco Polo became the 13th surfer to be cut from the tour after being beaten by Teahupo'o specialist Damian Hobgood. In the final heat of the morning Chris 'Davo' Davidson was killed off by Pat Gudauskas' last minute rodeo clown that earned him the highest wave score of the day, taking the heat by less than half a point.
