Billabong Pro Tahiti Day One

The swell didn't come to the party at the end of the road on day one of the Billabong Pro Tahiti and a lay-day has been called.

“We monitored conditions for a good while this morning and deemed it not contestable,” said ASP Head Judge, Richie Porta. “It was very small and just too inconsistent to run. We’re working with everyone, the surfers, the organizers, the forecasters to ensure that the athletes have the best possible conditions.”

Surfline are calling a slow start to the contest waiting period with a very modest mix of southwest swells providing contestable, but small surf for the next couple of days and the possibility of some bigger swells later in the waiting period.
