Dingo doing some damage in northern NSW. Pic Shield
On Saturday night while enjoying a few ales at a Coolangatta watering hole Dean Morrison was king hit from behind, rendering him unconscious and leaving the world tour surfer with cuts, bruises and a broken cheek bone.
The attack couldn’t have come at a worse time, currently ranked 37th Deano will need a big result at the Billabong Pro J-Bay that kicks off at the end of next week.
"He was sitting down and some guy came along and nailed him in the skull with a bottle.” ASL haven’t been able to get in touch with Dingo to see how he’s doing, but 1978 World Champ and Dean’s lifelong mentor Wayne ‘Rabbit’ Bartholomew spoke to GoldCoast.com.au about the attack. “It knocked him out and he hit the ground on his head. I think what saved him was the fact that he was sitting down. If he was standing up he would have taken the full brunt of the ground on his skull but he landed on his cheekbone."
"He is extremely lucky that one, he didn't get killed and two, he didn't get brain damage. He has a lot of lacerations on his forehead - he looks like he’s hit the reef. One eye is completely shut and apparently there is no damage, but it looks damaged. He could have been blinded."
