ASP CEO Brodie Carr kicking off the 2010 World Tour.
“I worked on a new formula last year and it seemed to work…” Mick Fanning started.
“What was that?” Kelly Slater interrupted.
“Not talking to you and beating you. (laughs) As long as I’m having fun I’m stoked to be here, winning or losing.” - Mick continued.
“I kinda like having a target on my back, it pushes me along.”- Steph Gilmore“The Gold Coast is like second home, I’ve been coming up here for eight or more years. I love the vibe of this town, the way the city meets the surf, it’s one of the favourite spots for everyone on tour." - Sally Fitzgibbons
“Is there a rebel tour?” Kelly shot back at a journo who asked if he was choosing the ASP over the Rebel tour.
“It’s one of the most difficult spots to read, you gotta try and pick a wave that’s still gonna be good 100 meters down the line and that’s pretty hard to do.” - Joel Parkinson
“I have one board that feels exceptional, I haven’t had one feel like that in a long time. You gotta baby those boards and not surf them too much. I’ll probably take that thing for a spin in the next day or so.” - KS
“The bank is great, it’s really good. A few weeks ago it was as good as I’ve surfed it in quite a few years. As long as mother nature sends us some swell, we’ll probably see some pretty good waves.” Parko.
“I don’t dwell on things, it (last year's world title) was an opportunity that I didn’t grab, but there’s plenty more to come.” - Parko
Out the window of the press conference, Bobby Martinez gets vert.
