I had a go and I was frothing on it. One of the best boards in the Test, I thought. It was maybe a little too big for me, but the thickness felt good, like it was in the right places, very smooth off the bottom, easy with everything really. I think everyone liked that board. I thought about what board I’d like to take home from here; at first I thought the Firewire, then I thought the Diverse, but then I rode this one and it’s definitely it!

That board was sick. I think everybody really liked it. It was good off the bottom and because of that you could get it into the pocket really nicely. Again the board that bottom turns well is always a good one. I did a couple of turns and airs that felt nice and clean. Just a good board.

Mauricio’s call: “I’ve been working with some of the Brazilian pros on stuff and I’ve had a lot of feedback that’s gone into this board. It’s designed to be fast, very quick off the top, more the board a pro would ride than the normal shortboard. It has a very low entry rocker and a lot of tail rocker without bending it up too much. Things are changing in the marketplace – a lot of the Californian influence is coming here this summer I think. People like the fat, wider little boards under their feet. I’ve been doing plenty of wider little boards too, and a lot of five-fin set-ups. People are really into that, they want to experiment with the set-up. But as a shaper you can’t lose your feeling for the good high-performance shortboard, and these ones have been going really well for us. I love them.”
