Ex-Kolohe Andino team board; scheduled to pass on to Ibis after the Test.
Younger, improving surfer to 65 kilos looking to develop high-performance technique in 1-4 foot surf.
Minor deck denting.
Ibis said this was a really fun board and indeed it was just as he said. Really good on your backhand, easy to get off the bottom and go straight up vertical into the lip. Good for airs, carves, everything – a great competition board.
This board has such a good feel to it. You stand up and there’s no resistance from it – any turn feels possible. I was trying to be careful with it on the Test because I didn’t want to do anything to it, crease it or anything. The volume feels just right for me and it gained and held speed easily. One of those boards you want to hang on to for big heats or special occasions.

MATT's call: “The F1 Stub is sort of a conservative high-performance board. It’s not as radical as a Goldie rockered pointbreak board; it’s more Trestles influenced than Snapper influenced. The rocker is a little more relaxed and the concave is a little mellower. A very neutral sort of board. Most of Julian’s (Wilson) good results have been on an F1 Stub. This one has a little hip in it, but I do one for some team guys that has a smooth outline through that area, just a straight line, which makes it even more simple. But the hip does open up the board a little more for most surfers. There’s a lot of things you can do in designing, like inside foil fins and stuff that will give a board an extra zing, and that’s great for most guys, but the really good surfers just want a board to shut up and lay there – the additions are just a distraction to them.”
Flat low entry to slight concave to flat exit; slight hip in outline just forward of front fins
