MIKEY

When I first laid eyes on it, this board looked REALLY nice. The rails and the concave and everything all looked perfect. We put it in the swimming pool and with the water running over it the bottom looked so nice. When we got it out there, I think I was surfing a bit too much on the front foot, because it felt a bit funny. Then I started to realise I needed to weight it back a little bit and when I did that I began to love that board. It was beautiful backhand, leaning in on your heels and going straight up into the lip.

ADAM

I was like everyone, got this out of the bag and was drooling, it was so clean and smooth. There wasn’t a wasted bit of foam on it anywhere and it took me a little while to adjust to that, ’cause I’d just hopped off a couple of the fatter little boards on the Test. I think this board would get better and better the higher quality of wave you were riding. It has that tight round pin and so it fits with steep parts of the wave. Really snappy and pivoty in the lip and pocket.

DYLAN'S CALL: “The Performa’s my bread and butter really – something I’ve been working on since I began moving on to the cutting machines five years ago. My idea was to make a board anyone can ride, from team riders to guys who are just in the process of graduating from funboards. I try to make everything flow together, outline, rocker, thicknesses, with nothing too extreme, the concaves are quite shallow for instance. You can put different tails on it to work in different sorts of waves. That blank was actually gonna be my own board – I’ve always been a round pin lover, they’re an amazing tail. We do play around with materials. I do a bit with Fibreflex and with EPS foam and epoxies, but the traditional formula is pretty good I think, it’s stood the test of time incredibly well.”

Flat to very shallow single/double concave grading through tail.
