The were clean, long right-handers on offer for the world's best surfers. Round One of The Billabong Pro J-Bay saw some small barrels, big airs and impressive turns.
With a significant drop in swell after Round One, event organisers decided to call lay-days for Saturday and Sunday. What better way to pass the time than to get up-close and personal with the king of the jungle?

Carissa Moore, 18, of Oahu, Hawaii made history at the Roxy Pro Biarritz becoming the youngest ever ASP World Champion by advancing into the final. Moore sealed her maiden World Title crown when her closest rival, World No. 2 Sally Fitzgibbons, was eliminated during the semifinals by eventual Roxy Pro winner, Steph Gilmore.
